Fine Art Photography and Digital Painting and Paintings/Portraits from Photos
I strive to achieve a sense of classic elegance in my images. The focus of some of my work is still life (created in my home). I have long admired the paintings of Paul Cezanne and Henri Fantin-Lator, and the beautiful Polaroid photography of Marie Cosindas and have been greatly influenced by their still life compositions.
I work in the digital medium and many of my images are the result of the blending or fusion of traditional themes and concepts with the creativity and freedom that the new digital tools provide. I have done darkroom work for many years and appreciate the inspiring opportunity this new medium provides not only to enhance my traditional images in ways I never imagined but to create new work envisioned but unattainable before. Recently, I have been painting (digitally) from photographs...both fine art gallery and commissioned work.
I lived in suburban Chicago for
many years before moving to Coronado, California twenty years ago. I have a
B. A. from Barat College, Lake Forest, Illinois, where I studied photography
under Michael Baruch. I later studied at the Art Institute of Chicago under
photographer Barbara Crane. I have exhibited in numerous juried shows and will
be a featured artist at the San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park in 2008.
My images are in many private collections.
